anyone running one of these long tails on a freighter canoe? How scary is it?
too tippy? hard time turning? or just like the feel of an outboard.I had a swamp mud motor used it one time and sold it ! Went back to my outboard for my 19’.
When we spoke on the phone last year he was busy building boats (Yukon Freightworks Canoe Company) and running big sled dogs. I think he is done filming for now. He is a really nice guy aside from being a wealth of information about many things. He runs Copperhead mud motors on his freighters.havent seen mainer on here in a while, probably busy with making life below zero. not sure if he has a website or not, i think he still builds those fiberglass freighters
Those are much bigger than my 19’ Grumman .When we spoke on the phone last year he was busy building boats (Yukon Freightworks Canoe Company) and running big sled dogs. Lol- yes his canoes are big workhorses. He has run many different canoes in the past, including Grumman’s prior to designing his own boats. That is why I mentioned maybe reaching out to him. Those are much bigger than my 19’ Grumman .
Huge canoes !
Ben, I would like to know more about your canoe/ twister tail for moose hunting access to shallow draft waters. Could I contact you? Kevin LHey guys. I own Alaska Canoe Company. I have a 19’ freighter I build thats in the same league as a Grumman 19’. I run a 7 1/2 hp on it with a Twister long tail. It’s about perfect for my hull. It’s the biggest canoe I build, so to me it isn’t tippy, but that’s all a matter of personal tolerance. - Ben.
