let's just say I was going to put together a raffle for 3 Kimber Montana rifles in 3 different calibers what would you choose to cover Alaska's game. I was thinking a 243, 3006 and a 338 or something along those lines.

I would say a .338 or .375 is a must.

A medium gun such as .300 Win Mag. or 30/06

A light rifle such as a .223, .22/250 or .243

All stainless, with sights.

In the Montana configuration this is what they have for the smaller of the calibers.

.243 Win.
.260 Rem.
7mm-08 Rem.
.308 Win.

Among that group, I'd personally go with the 7mm-08. As for the rest, well....I'll take a 300 WinMag and a 375 H&H. :)

While I've never fired a 7mm-08, I hear good things about them. I'd have to agree with Brian on the rest, mostly because .300 win mag is my personal faviorate and you can't go wrong with a good .375 H&H.

Do they even chamber that for a 416? If not I would go 375H/H for the big bears.

Sorry guys, I would like the rifle in 375 as well but it is not available. The only 375H&H they have right now is the new Caprizi that they announced this year and it is high$$$. 338 is the largest cal avbl.

If

IF I really had my choice a .35 Whelen in stainless and sights would work for me instead of a .375.

I like the 243, 300 and 338,

You have the word was in your post. Does that mean your not doing a raffle? :(

If not what happened?
