Why do you haul your boats all the way from Anchorage to Seward or Homer when Whittier is just 60 miles away? Whats the difference?

In all seriousness Seward by all measures has more and better fishing. Better king/silver/halibut. I do quite well fishing in PWS but I run at least 50 miles each time I go out. I do so because I catch fish out there and I like to run that far. My boat is an escape from every day life ~ meaning people everywhere I turn. The very last thing I want is to escape to a bunch of other boats. Where I fish I see maybe 1 -4 boats and usually nobody fishing right around me. That is Alaska, that is fishing, and that is what I like. Sure I could catch more fish with burning less diesel, but that's not why I escape to the water.
