A friend mentioned that Kodiak has quite a few places to land and that many of the hill tops are fairly eazy to land on. Anyone have experience with the island?

There are definitely some high benches and ridgetops in the north-central part of the island that could be accessed via super cub on wheels. Having said that, these tend to be pretty exposed, windy areas and in flying over them dozens of times I have never seen much game around them. None of the air taxis on Kodiak operate wheel planes suitable for off field landings and in over 15 years on the island I only saw one or two cubs on wheels there that weren't passing through. A cub on floats would be pretty darn useful to the goat or deer hunter, however!

i've spent quiet a bit of time on tops of ridges on north part of kodiak and agree that mahy of them a cub would be quiet suited for however, the wind would be the killer. changes direction so often and with such force that you'd need to fold up yoru plane and lay it down. i don't fly, but have rode backseat for quiet a few hours in cubs and would have to say if you had one already on the isladn it would be fun to play around when the weathers good. But i'd agree that floats would be better, although i'd stay outa the salt with a cub and stick to alpine lakes.
i know the south end of the island several guides use wheel planes on the river bottoms and beachs. lots and lots of beaches.
