Took thanksgiving week off from school and took the new wife and two oldest boys down to Kodiak for some deer. A trip we have attempted for four years.
This was a special trip, the one year anniversary of their mother and my wife of 18 years, passing away. We stood together on the knob where I received the text from the trioopers the year prior with the news that they were unable to revive Amber.
We have a new family now, new memories and relationships. New adventures and new personalities. Your life changes when you loose someone like that. We have been so blessed, we did a group hug and prayed together thanking the Lord for His divine plan and using us to be a part of it. It was a moment.
The first two days we had awesome weather, deer movement was slow as the rut had passed but we were able to get five bucks on the ground. Firsts for my boys and my wife, Rudi. After that. The rain came back. Flooding creeks, swamped everything. Wet everywhere. Etc. we have all heard the stories. With the break in the weather end of the week we got another buck and a silver fox. Hoped a plane and got outa there!

That's great !! Your sons are getting big. Do they still play basketball? Those were some nice bucks, are double throat patches common? Bob

They all have a double throat patch basicly. Rare to see one without.
The boys are 6’2” and 5’10” already. Size 14 and 13 feet. Both are still playing b-ball. And eating. A lot.

That is funny!
It's one thing to be a vegetarian around other vegetarians. How does one maintain that idea when the smell of meat cooking is in the air? When others are eating meat in front of you and so obviously enjoying it! Interesting she shoots but won't eat!

She never hunted before she met us, but now that we eat it she is into shooting it, probably like me buying veggies for the kids. I won’t eat it, but I’ll buy it! Just means I don’t gotta share my steak!!

Toss a couple beans on your plate Jake. It goes great with a steak.

I'm with you all the way. Meat, a little potato and some bread and I'm happy. Been prefecting this diet for a loooong time and completely satisfied with it.
