I haven't talked to anyone lately, but that area didn't get the snow that we did in town, so hopefulyl they faired much better.

i called the biologist down there about 2 weeks ago. I tired to pin him donw on deer mortality and he estimated about 30% loss for the island as a whole- not too bad all else considered. he said he spoke with the PWS biologist who thought the mortality was closer to 50% for PWS

And yet the limit remains 5 of any sex for the Sound and three for Kodiak. Go figure.

I wouldn't put much stock in those numbers as they are pretty non-descript. Even if they are accurate, the real question is, how do those numbers compare to an average year?
