are jets necessary on that river? How does the super silty water affect motors?

I wood say that jets motors are not required however they r prefered on that river. Smaller boats with smaller prop motors have made runs up to the jim creek area but I woodnt advise to go any further up river than that without a jet. And, that silty water eats impellors fur sure..

Did you go up? How was the river? I am planning to take a group of boy scouts up there October 14-15 for an overnight camping trip. I've ran to the glacier once before - last October. It was an easy run that time.
