This may come as a surprise to a few of you, but there is no snow at Knik. You can leave that snowmachine home and bring the ATV instead.

What's with all the snowmachines running around out there over the weekend?

I'm not surprised there's no snow at Knik. What little lands there usually gets blown away.

What's the condition of the creeks/rivers with the warm weather we've had lately? Still solid? Rotten ice?

The snow in knik doesn't blow away it melts cause the sun shines on a lot there. Hey when does the sun start peaking over the hill in Eagle River again, May?

The creek crossings are still in good shape but deteriorating fast. I'd say in two weeks or less the ice bridge over Jim Creek will fall through and make crossing tough for awhile. The trails are in decent shape, icy in the morning and muddy in the evening.

I still don't get it, the people with snowmachines would ride bare ground for miles.

Depends on where you are. We get sun year round, we're up on the hill past Wal-mart. I have friends in Hiland valley that sit close to the mountain and only get sun in their yards in the middle of summer, though.
