Yeah but........"Soon, a part-time researcher at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, has long claimed corporate paychecks have not influenced his scientific findings."
So seeeeeee. No biggie!

Reminds me of the Tobacco and oil lobby. This goes back to Plato. He was all about making choices based on the needs of business and his pocket book.

To be honest what I find funny, or should I say sad, is how this issue has polarized folks into one camp or the other. The same day I read that this Doctor was on the take, I read democrats were on a witch hunt. Then a couple days later, Inhofe, is on the floor of the senate with a snow ball. Spin is everywhere. I am a skeptic on almost everything, thats the science part of me. I posted this as I did the last post covering this section not to bait folks, but to look at the information presented. The apocalypse thread turned into zombies.

What's really sad is that word like "hoax" and terms like "junk science" get thrown out by those who don't agree with the whole anthropogenice climate change position.
As you rightly stated, skepticism can be healthy, but only from a solid, well founded position. Just claiming it is a hoax with some conspiracy theory, like the tv host founder of the weather channel, is just plain, well, DUM. Misspelled on purpose. Really, might as well get a view on climate change from Brittany Spears.
Heres something else that's disturbing. The head of Exxon figures the climate change, even if it's human caused, is no big deal, we'll adapt, it's an engineering problem. Ok, fine, however, he's coming at it from the point of view of a hyper ritch westerner. He's ignoring the reality. The U.S. military is already thinking about this issue. What about the other, what, 70-80% of the planet that either doesn't have the capacity or resources to adapt, or just won't be able to? That's a huge issue, regardless of whether climate change is human caused or not.
You know, after the winter us northerners have experienced, I can't imagine one could not at least start thinking pretty seriously about this issue.
Rant over.

Even Britney Spears isn't that dum.

Interesting chat on the radio this AM about Al Gore saying the Chinese are on the cutting edge of technology, yet what have they actually contributed?

It was said that this year alone, the Chinese will bring online enough new coal powered plants that would emit enough carbon to equal 3 BILLION new pickup trucks driving 15,000 miles a year. If that is true the meager dent we will be making in our efforts in the using would be like throwing a cup of water on a forest fire. So, even if man IS causing a problem its likely unstoppable by our efforts in the US... Too many third world countries catching up in emissions... BTW we just set a record for cold in Feb here in IL... East coast states doing the same...

Last winter, for the 1st time in 120 years, it snowed on the pyramids of Egypt. POTUS closes coal fired powered plants in the U.S. and enacts excessive regulations for American companies while FLOTUS takes separate jets on vacation. Even the dog gets a special flight on Air Force One. But you better cut down on your carbon footprint you bad citizen. Shame on you for driving that SUV and not taking public transportation. The planet has been going through cooling/warming cycles since however many billions of years ago you choose to believe and will continue to do so long after we're gone. So keep on driving that Prius with the "coexist" bumper sticker and keep recycling plastic shopping bags if it makes you feel better. Meanwhile, ISIS just burned some more people alive in cages.
