Kenai in September

Greetings:

We're planning a canoe trip in Kenai first week of September and will be traveling along Kenai Canoe Trail system. Does it make any sense to take a shotgun there for the purposes of waterfowl hunting (if allowed of course)?

Any pointers as far as area's go would be highly appreciated. We're still trying to decide between Swan Lake and Swanson River routes.

lots of ducks along the lake and river system on swanson you should be able to find plenty of mallards and widgeon along with divers
