Is it too early or are people picking them up? If so which sections would you target? Tia

You're kidding right? You can catch Kenai bows year round. But to answer your question, no it is not too early. In my opinion, it is never too early.

Sept-oct is more the "fall" season. Cant fish may-mid june for spawning. If on foot id try just before the upper dumps into skilak or the middle a little ways below skilak.

Well I meant is it typical hot fall fishing yet or is it too early to expect fall fishing. Which section this time of year?

Oh, I got ya. In my opinion the best time happens to be right in the middle of hunting season. About mid-August to mid-September. At least for the upper Kenai. The middle Kenai is good all the way into the middle of October. I've noticed the upper seems to slow down about the end of September. But I'm no expert by any means. I've heard the big rainbows all move down to the middle Kenai later in the season.

No it is not even close to fall fishing, but you can still catch bows if that is what your after. Follow the reds and you will see bows. People dumping carcasses in the water are a good place to start also. Depending on the part of the river you want to fish fishing is good now until dec and then they start to tail off because the fish get into lakes or the main wintering areas.

I floated upper Kenai on Sunday. It was slow. Use flesh unless you can find some sockeye, then fish a somewhat fresh bead behind them. We only seemed to find the bows when we found salmon.

Watched a guy land a 24"+ at river center the other night.
The guy at the private dock just downstream was nailing them left and right.
I landed a 20" dolly while flipping for reds.
