Seen that in movies, but never heard of it really happening. But consider what it was and where is came from.

I would take the statement about it coming from Iraq with a grain of salt. The military has been very strict about war trophies and the odds of getting an actual weapon out of theater is pretty slim. It is not going to be approved for removal and not worth the risk to sneak it out, even for a nice pistol which we all know the Jennings is not!

Got to love high quality handguns! I agree with you LuJon, can't see that coming back from in theater. I could be wrong, but they searched us and our bags pretty well before getting to the bird out.
Had a buddy picked up a Jennings 380, 32?? back in 82 at a gun show on the cheap for a new handgun. I was standing next to him when he put the first round down range, his high grip on the tiny frame gave him two nice slices down the web of his hand! Thought he was going to toss it in the creek! You get what you pay for I guess.

I'll agree with both of you it's not worth the risk. Jennings are a P.O.S.

Heck with those pistols it only takes one pull of the trigger to empty a mag! My uncle picked up a couple of their little .22 pistols and they would do slam-fire mag dumps regularly. It was novel at the time but far from safe!!

I think the Jennings was intended to be shot when laying or being held sideways. I think thats how most gang bangers hold their saturday night specials.
We had a guy leave the shop mad a few months back because he wanted to trade his Jennings 9 in on a Sig and I would not take the Jennings on trade. I told the guy that we could not allow him $100 on trade and then just throw it in the trash and that was exactly what would happen because we couldn't in good judgement sell it to anyone else!

Yeah the junkers seem to shoot better sideways!!!
So an individual at a public range lays down a fully loaded pistol on the bench......mistake number two. (the first was buying or stealing the POS). Since when do we do this? How can we ever be sure of where a gun is safe if it is lying there loaded with all those people around? I don't do it and all gun ranges I attend require that only unloaded firearms be unattended. Just my plug.
I was at an indoor range when someone dropped or knock off the bench a loaded H&K MK23 and it went rock -n-roll. Lots of tap dancing that day with the concrete walls and floor.
