Do Kenai Lake, Skilak or Tustumena lakes ever freeze? Has anyone had any luck fishing them on hard water?

Whats the ice thickness in moose pass area? Specifically Upper and lower trail lakes? I haven't fished them before and am interested in giving it a try has anyone had any luck here?

Just out of curiosity, what is the maximum thickness that could be expected in the coldest parts of Alaska, in a cold winter, on a moderate-sized lake?

I need to modify the extension for my auger to make it at least 24-inches (probably more) for fishing in Nunavut.

Maximum thickness here is in April :shot: and we used to land C-130's on the ice in front of town before they built a strip.

Memory lake had 2-3 feet of ice today. Fishing was decent but not great. Was hoping for some pike but no luck on pike. Ice was plenty thick.

We were out on Matanuska Lake last Wednesday afternoon and there was a good 3' of ice there but lots of water on top of the ice and I did notice that the edges of the lake were startin the thaw. Im givin that lake another 1-2 weeks at best if these warm temps keep up. I think itz guna b an early breakup this year with the lack of snow we got... "Fishon"...

I went to Hidden Lake today and figured there is just over 2 foot of ice on it and it startin to rot around the edges. Maybe 2-3 weeks and it should b open water if these warm temps keep up the way they been goin. 48 degrees there today...

Rented a cabin at Byers lake November 14th and 15th. The ice was 5 to 6 inches at its thickest and found a spot only 20 feet away from the thick ice that was about an inch or two. I had a hard time reading the ice there so I didn't get to fish the places I hoped to. It was cold so I'm sure the ice will be safer soon.

Memory Lake had a good 6-7 inches where i was fishing. The thing is that there was almost as much slush/water as ice.

Got about a foot of ice on the ponds on Chena Hot Springs Road. Excellent fishing - I figure it's likely to be the same on North Pole ponds and up the Steese.

Was out on memory lake yesterday and there was 8"+. Look out for old ice holes, etc because they were growing but still atv'able.
