I have one week to go until a big hunt and I need some ammo. My scope took a crap and I had to burn two boxes of ammo to finally realize it and everyone knows we can't order ammo here in Alaska. I have tried every sporting goods store from Anchorage to Eagle River. If anyone knows of anyone flying up here from the lower 48 that might be wiling to get get paid to bring me some ammo, I would appreciate it. Or if you know where I can get any at. Like I said, I have called everyone within 30 miles.

Here is what I need.
Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 300WSM 180 Grain (Polymer Tip)
Manufacturer's product # SBST300SA

Thanks so much for your consideration

I can't switch ammo because my custom ballistic dial is made for this specific round

I have lots of 300WSM ammo (mostly handloads), but none of the super ballistic silver polymer controlled exploding expansion tip variety you are looking for...

I think the last sentence in your post sums up your predicament. While my Model 70 tends to pattern better with handloads, my low-tech VX-II 3x9x40 has never complained about the bullet type (although she once gave me a snyd remark about powder brands but I think it was more a hurt feelings type of issue).

Your BDC doesn't work on just that particular bullet, it works for all bullets that have that specific ballistic coefficiency and velocity.

Should be fairly easy to find a like bullet.

Ditto. Look at ballistics. According to their respective websites, the ammo you have has a drop of 6.4 inches at 300 yards, with a 200 yard zero. The Federal Premium 180 grain nosler partitions have a 6.6 inch drop at 300 yards, with a 200 yard zero.

Now, each gun likes different bullets better than others, but you have a week to go. I'd say find something close and see what it does. Just make sure they have more than 2 boxes :)

sight in 2" high at a hundred yards...

and don't use the the fancy dial!!!

still give you a max range of close to if not over 400 yards...

Pacwest - I used to use this ammo and I'm pretty sure I still have a box at home. It may be 150 grain though, remnant from chasing speed goats while in college. I'll check tonight and get back to you. If I can find it, it's yours, no charge.

I use the .300WSM and I have found the 180 Ballistic Tips and 180 Accubonds are basically interchangeable...there is no change to POI.

In fact, I use the less expensive BT for load development and practice and hunt with the AB.

Winchester loads the 180 Accubond CT to the same specs as the 180 Ballistic Silvertip and should be very close if not identical POI.

Cabelas in anchorage had a lot of nosler 300wsm 180 accubond last week.

Understood, but did not feel like boring everyone with trivial info. I was keyholing with this ammo and my gun likes it.
