I got a ton of work before I can get out on the water this year. I sold my old boat which was turnkey, my new boat needs two engines installed, some fiberglass work, electrical work, and trailer work. I am going to start prep work for the fiberglassing, it is on the inside where the walls intersect with the hull, shouldn't be to big of a deal. I also have some minor things to do to the engines before I can install them, they are in my garage. The electrical work is going to be the worst part I am thinking. None of the exterior lights work, I have to install some electronics, need to change out the thru-hull transducers, I am looking for a radar unit to install, not sure what route I am going to follow on that yet, I am thinking of a few options. I also need to install some new hour meter gauges. So much work to do, but this is my dream boat so to speak so once I get it going I will be very happy, now I just need the gas to do down a few dollars a gallon and I might be able to afford to take it out of the harbor.

No problem hoose35 you can knock that out in a weekend. My previous boat I popped out of the mold on april 4th 2000 and she was deploying gillnet on the Copper on May 15th 2000. The glass work you mention, "where the walls intersect the hull" would that be your bulkheads? Do you have access under the deck? Gimme a hollar if you need some help...

Sounds like a great project. There's something nice about building your own stuff. Good luck and hope it all goes smooth.

Things are coming along pretty well. I got a majority of my fiberglassing done. Wired in my flybridge trim tab controller. Did a ton of engine work, Monday or Tuesday I will be installing the new port side engine and pulling the old starboard engine. The next time I come home I will be ready to install the new starboard engine. Then it is basically down to rat killing, but there is still a ton of that to do. I am very excited.

I'm towing to Valdez on Tuesday, good Lord willing! I'm worried as heck but not as worried as I am about the tunnel nazis turning me back because I'm too wide. Anyway SERVS is having a drill for the whittier fleet in Valdez and I figure I'll save fuel. Plus I'm taking the whole shootin match to Cordova, truck, trailer and everything. This business of towing it to Wasilla in the winter is too stressful w/ this boat. Plus the whittidiots aren't getting 500 bucks to store my trailer again this year. As far as my projects on the boat are going, I'm not gonna be able to raise the waterline of my bottom paint the couple inches like I had planned because it takes 24hrs to dry in a recommended 70 degrees. I had the bottom painted last spring and we didn't go quite high enough on the waterline :(. Otherwise I'm ready to go

Hoose, sounds like you're doing well. As you already know from your previous boat, it's a rewarding feeling when you make improvements and/or repairs to your boat. Sure, at times you wish the gremlins wouldn't pop up, but that's boat ownership. The other good part of working the electrical problems is you will be intimately familiar with your boat's power plant. That's a great bit of knowledge to have in your head. Good luck and keep up the hard work.

A little update. I fired my port engine today, started just fine, no leaks, everything looks good to go on it. I have both my vhf's and gps working although I still need 1 fuel flow meter, and a couple extension cables to complete my network. My horn currently doesnt work and neither does my macerator pump so I need to buy some new ones. I wired in my flybridge trim tab controller and it does not work so I am going to need a new one of those as well. I am getting close though, I am starting to feel like I can get out on the water sooner than I had anticipated. Hoping to get my starboard engine dropped in some time this week.

Just thought I would bring this back once more for an update. I got the boat in operational condition and was able to take it out on the water. First trip was from Kenai to Kalgin Island to give my dad a hand set netting, then I made a trip to Homer for some halibut fishing. I am still getting used to the boat and there are many more things to be done, but the main this it is useable and the rest I can do as time/money allows. The boat is the Gloria Ann, if you see me around say Hi
