I need advice on how to transport the family

I have a wife and 4 5yr olds to get through 5 miles of swamp to get to my cabin. My wife will probly be a rider not a driver. What the best choice for six people plus a trailer?? It doesn't have to swim but 2-3 ft of water would be the norm.

Have you checked out Argos? If you are looking at fitting 6 people into one rig this would be probably the best option for you situation from what it sounds like.

I agree with an Argo. Stay away from any strickly track vehicle which would be a second choice for your requirements. Too many moving parts, they break down all the time and are VERY high maintence. An 8 wheel argo with optional tracks that go over the wheels would be your best bet.

With out knowing more information such as how bad is the trail; are there a lot of people using the trail? The number of times you plan to go in a month. Are you willing to do a lot of trail maintenance and just how much work you want to do getting there? I think you are going to need two Argos and two trailers, or plan on making several trips. I also agree track machine are a lot of maintenance and so are Argo.

You might think of a weasel or some smaller track rig. If there is a good bottom to the trail a swamp buggy might be an option. 2-3 feet of water is a lot for most ATV's and your Argo would be floating a lot.

I have 4 kids and chose an Argo Avenger 8x8 it eats swamps and mud for breakfast and water it will swim through with no problems. Will tow a trailer and carry everthing there in one shot. Price is steep but to me worth the price especially when you drive right through mud that would swallow your wheeler while your wearing tennis shoes and jeans and not muddy

With the DR, I assume you are a doctor so....Your best option is a SUSV or commonly known in Europe as BV 206. Winter, summer, spring or fall, it will not matter. Can carry all your needs and then some. Check them out. The Army in Alaska has been selling off the surplus SUSV's for several years now, so there is a good source out there.

SUSV are very high maint., you need a long trailer to haul it, if it breaks/stuck you need another SUSV to recover it, and a poor choice for just 5 mile runs.

I would go with an Argo Avenger with cab and rubber tracks. I have the conquest with the plastic snow tracks and it is a good set up but two of my friends have the avenger one with tracks and one with out.If money was not an issue I would go EFI. The cab is nice keeps the wife dry and warm.
