i have a question that i need some help with. The first week i am up in July there are some monster tides and i am wondering if you can troll kings in the salt when the tide is ripping. If so do you troll across the current or against it? Any help would be appreciated!

We also get some of our best king fishing of the year drifting and mooching along the current seems when tides are running max. Usually beat the trollers around us senseless on such days.

kqpcr, we would typically, find a point, be it a cape, bar, one side or the other of an island, a rock that may come awash, and fish the eddied side or down stream side of it,, to both hold position and possibly stumble across some bait fish holding there, if fishing long areas of beach or bluff in that much tide, going with the tide seems best for us, just remember that even tho you may show speed over ground at 4 knts, just so long as your speed threw the water and cable angle is good your fishing!! I never have much luck with the back troll or nose into tide, but every boat is different, hope that helps.. cheers
