Hey guys I am new to the site and this is my first post. I have been reading a lot about the sport jets and I have one main concern. The boat I am looking at is a 20' Hewescraft Sportsman with a "210" Mercury Sport Jet. But I can't find anything about a 210 sport jet????? Even nada only shows a 200. I have seen the motor in person and it does say 210 on it. Did they discontinue this motor, or is it just not very popular? Also, the hewes seems to be a little bit narrow with a 5'5" bottom and 7'1" beam. How sturdy is this and how much room do you think the 20' combination offers. I have been looking for a new boat for about 2 months now and I am finally ready to just pull the trigger and get one so any help you can offer would be great!!!! Thanks

I know Luke ran one over at compeaus for a summer. He loved it. He went everywhere Craig went in the SJ. Not sure about the 210. maybe thats the carb version. I run a 66" bottom, its to each his own. If you like it go for it. I think you loose a little lifting ability but it all depends what your going to do with the boat. If your in Fairbanks, I'd be more than happy to give you some pointers. Welcome to the forum. I have a 20' Sportsman with the 200 SJ and love it. Although i've never really pushed it in the super skinny stuff, I've had it on several rivers now as well as PWS/Homer/Seward and love it. It gets up on step really quick and is pretty economical to run too. The layout is great too. If your in the Anchorage, let me know and I'd be glad to talk to ya in person about it. not too sure about the 210 SJ though. I thoght they only made a 175/200 and the 250 gas hog.

I am in Wasilla. Also i called mercury direct and they said this is a carbeurated 2 stroke and that the EPA regulagtions forced them to quit making it. Now they have the Optimax sport jet. For what its worth.

210 is still carbureted, tuned up for a bit more RPM. Pump came with a 4 vs. 3 blade impeller and has improved through-hull exhaust vs. through ports in the jet.
