Help me plan my August trip

I've been up a few times but always between May and July. I plan on coming in August this time and am curious about where and when I should be. My criteria are as follows, in no particular order:

1) Is there a time in August when I could catch the beginning of the silver run and still catch the end of the red run too? The fishing doesn't have to be in the same locale, I'll travel.

2) I've fished out of Seward, Homer, and Valdez several times. I'm looking to change it up a bit. I'm thinking overnight charter and/or a trip to Kodiak. Or maybe Cordova? What's my best bet for chasing big halibut?

I'm open to any port(s) in southeast or southcentral, and any time during August. Given 9-10 days, where'd you go? A little shorefishing for silvers would be a nice bonus too.

1) great timing for the Silvers... Reds are going to be a little (to a lot) faded

2) stay away from the Overnight Chicken runs on the bigger boats.. There are a couple charters out of Homer that specialize in Good overnight trips.

3) My personal choice would be fishing out of Kodiak.. The Silvers and Halibut should be great

For a combo on reds and silvers, I would hit the upper Kenai/Russian river for reds and a saltwater charter out of Seward for silvers. There are still plenty of fresh reds in the Kenai and Russian during the first week of August in addition to much thinner crowds, and the silver fishing should be heating up out of Seward. Do those two for 2-3 days, then hop over to Kodiak or Cordova for something a bit more adventurous.

Elfin Cove. Two reasons - 3A & 2C

I'd be going there if I wasn't already booked with another location that's only a few miles east of there.

Kodiak would be a good choice, too.

I'm going to have to admit my ignorance here. What's 3A & 2C? Sounds like a GMU to me:question:

3A & 2C represent two fishing regions in SouthCentral and Southeast AK with VERY different bag limit regulations. These two regions border each other at Elfin Cove. Leave the lodge, turn right (north) and you're in 3A; turn left (south) and you're fishing in 2C. For instance, new Federal Halibut regs say 2C guided anglers may harvest one fish under 37 inches daily. 3A regs say 2 fish no size limit. One halibut trip in 2c equals a nice couple of meals whereas one trip in 3A could equal more than a 50 pound fish box per fish. YMMV. Look around on YouTube, AK fish & game, Lodge and Charter outfits in areas you are considering to help find the right area for you based on the regs, type of fish and fishing you want to do. Elfin Cove would cover most bases. Kodiak would as well as some other areas. Good luck!
