Wondering if anyone would consider sharing some recent information on things north of the pass. Any snow on the ground yet? Any info on the herd? I said I wouldn't but i guess I will be doing the 5 mile thing again. It's amazing how a year can fade the pain!!

I have two buddies headed up tonight. Driving a white F350 supercrew diesel. I wanted to go with but momma has to work and I have to watch the lil one. Good luck. They are headed in the 5 miles as well.

Little snow on the pass but thats about it. There is a little farther North but nothing that amounts to much. Not quite time for the white suits yet..

There are several large herds up there but if I told you where they are you would not be going hunting you would be cheating ;) They call it hunting because you "Hunt" for them. The caribou don't seem to be spread all over anymore, they are all bunched up..

Once again let me remind you DON'T PARK IN THE ROAD. You must park off the traveled surface of the road.

Crumm,

Thanks for the info!! What you provided was just what I was looking for. I have found that using a sled if by far the easiest way to get them out and usually a little snow is enough. Also...it's good to here they are herded up...thanks again for the info. As far as the parking...not a problem...been there before. You sound as if you may travel the road often.

Yesterday there were only scattered snow spots but it is currently snowing so things might change. I would imagine that a sled would slide across the early morning frozen crust on the tundra?

Yes unfortunately I travel the road a minimum of two and sometimes three times a week.

Last week there was a heard of well over 1000 head(might have been over 2000 but I didn't count them) between pump 2 and 3. They have since moved a ways but if they didn't see them last weekend they should go see the eye doc :)
