Haines Eagle Photography

The wife is a fairly enthusiastic nature photographer and would like to take pictures of the eagles gathering outside of Haines. Does anyone know if this is doable this year (we'd be flying in / motel-ing / renting a car) in the age of COVID? I understand the annual festival is cancelled this year so was hoping to get any insight on available infrastructure in November.

OK, depending on where you're coming from...this is how you do it. Fly to Juneau on the big airplanes, and then take the little Seaplanes to Haines. You can stay at the Captains Choice Hotel and you can rent a car from the hotel. It is doable in November and they keep the roads well plowed. I've been going to Haines since 2004 and I travel in all months and have always managed to get in and out via the plane. The plane ride is only 30 minutes compared to the ferry which is 6 hours (the ferry is my backup plan in case the planes don't fly). Any questions?
