Getting logged off the site after logging on... after hitting the "Submit post"...

Anyone else with this problem.
Happening for maybe 3 weeks, intermittently:
1. I log-in fine.
2. I read posts - still logged in.
3. I click to reply to post, compose it, then hit the submit button.
4. Error message pops up, informing me that I need to log in first and my reply post is gone.

Any idea why this happens?

Thanks.

yes, just like right now I had to again log in to do this. I sometimes have to log in many times over and over and it does get old. I have no idea what to do to stop it though.

This is my second attempt here. The bad part is .... I really reallly write a GREAT reply, and then I lose it. So then I go back and try to duplicate (impossible for me) and of course, it comes out pretty dorky when it does come thru. A few time when they got deleted more than once on a reply, I just gave up. Probably a good thing as by then my piece sounded like knucklehead anyhow. Huh, Maybe the Man is checking our threads and trying to tell us something.

power drifter and cod - Are these recent problems for you, or has this been a recurring issue since you signed up? Knowing when this started can help us diagnose the problem. Additionally, knowing which web browser and version each of you is using might help as well.

Brian, I'd say about the last ten days, off and on. About 6 times trying to post something. And maybe 3 times trying to bring up an attachment from someone-getting the administrator to help. Usually the posting part going away would happen more than once in a row. And DANG... those posts were .....Brilliant! (Once, after I had it disappear twice in a row, I got wise and 'copied' the reply i wrote-just in case, and after it rejected it, I was able to quickly repost by 'pasting' and it then took it. I thought maybe i was using too much time to come up with my reply.) Hope this helps...........Scott

Brian It seems to be doing this for awhile for me but not clear back to when I first signed up.About the time of some photo changes I think. I'm using the latest Firefox. Many times I sign in to start reading and after some time goes by and I try to post or just look at some photo or something and I have to sign in again. Some times I think I have to sign in 3 or 4 times during a 1hr + visit here. I also have had posts go into thin air like what has been said. Thanks for wanting to help. Just like now I had to sign in again to post this.

This also started happening to me a few weeks back until I clicked the little box under my log-in name. It says something like "remember be on this computer".

too slow?

too slow?

3. I click to reply to post, compose it, then hit the submit button.

Me too. I'm suspecting you're taking "too long" (as measured by the dumb computer) doing step 3 and its logged you out without you knowing, and you don't find out until you do something that requires being logged in to do (like post a reply).

Do note that this is just a guess. I have not looked into this to determine either why it happens, nor "how long" is "too long".

I keep getting kicked off too. I tried the "remember me" button, but it doesn't help. I'm using IE 8.0 on Windows 7 computer. It's been going on for 2-3 weeks now.

Is this problem still happening with some of you guys? I logged in with my husband's profile and he is not a mod. I posted a message, and then hit submit, it went thru. So then I hit edit and I was able to edit the message. I was also able to delete the message as well. I closed all the browser windows and came back to the forums and he was still logged in. Are you sure there isn't something in your anti virus or in your firewall setting that is causing you the problems. Are any of the mods having this problem?

Are you guys logging in fine with the single line header logon or is that one still broken and kicking you to a full screen login page? I have had this problem when not clicking the "remember me" button but when I made sure to click the "remember me" box on the full screen page the problem was resolved.

another clue?

another clue?

For some reason, (even 20 seconds after relogging in) I cannot press the ! button to indicate to the mods that this post:
http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php/88159-Building-a-lift-and-more-for-this-Scott-Albany-canoe?p=931116&viewfull=1#post931116
is a spam.

Neat spamming software he's got though. It finds words/phrases previously typed into the same thread and re-posts them, so he almost sounds on topic, unless you've been paying attention. He has only 3 posts, and all three fit this description.

But back to the bug tracking at hand; why can I no longer report posts with the ! button, in addition to getting logged off lots, especially while trying to post?

To help in the debugging effort, this is the exact message I get when trying to press the ! button:

FamilyMan, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

You may not have returned the system-generated email that is required to complete your registration process.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Same thing is happening to me too. I first select all text, and copy it before I get the stupid message to log back in so I don't have to retype. When you do log in, make sure you log in on the block that explains the problem, and not on the top right corner.........or you will loose the text. The action you've taken (like posting a reply) will continue if you just log in at the center of the screen when the message pops up.

I think its working better for me now that I checked the box on the log in page. Never needed to do this before.
I don't know of any viruses here, but agree about going with apple next time.

Could be. But it just happened after about 4-5 minutes (after logging on) as I read through posts in one forum - not posting anything, just scrolling and reading... just logged me off. Same thing happened to me once, in a manner of speaking, after a first date...

Logging back on every 4-5 minutes though, sheesh. Guess I better type fast!
