Those skeeters are bad this spring. And they're HUGE!!!...might get some good practice for the upcoming season shooting those things. At least it would be good training for the dog retrieving those monster skeeters to hand.

I started prepping the boat last weekend. Never too early. This spring a pair of mallards set up housekeeping in a puddle next to the kennel. Ok, that's cool. Thought they might nest, so I'm staying out of the trees around there. Let em be. 2 weeks ago had Canada geese, swans, bull sprig, buffalo heads, and a few others all in spring glory in the river in front of the house. Just like a parade. No Cans this spring though. I missed them. Every year we see them for a few days, but not this spring. Hmm. Nice to see the water come back to life every spring.

Tony,

Would be real interested in talking to you about your DuckHill Pup... your experience with them how, the pup is doing etc...I have not done a PM but I'm sure I could figure it out if you would like to share some of your thoughts without putting it in a post.

Thanks

I tried to pm you but you don't have enough posts yet or you need to turn on the ability to pm in your settings. I'd be happy to talk to you about my pup.

Tony,

Would really like to speak to you about the pup. Tried to figure out the PM business with not much success. If anyone has any tips/advice I would appreciate it. Thanks.

PCinAK I think you need a minimum number of post shown before the pm option will work, don't think it is very high, maybe 15 or so. I think you are close. Try going on some other forums and do some posts just commenting on things, etc, and get a few more post shown, should work then. Bud

Good looking pup there. I can't wait to get mine in the marsh this year. She is doing good enough now I think if I was to take her out tomorrow she would do just fine. She has gotten a lot better at marking now I need to work on blinds. I should have started earlier with the whistle stops but better late than never. She will take casts if she can't find the dummy but it takes her a while to look at me. To do so. Still got the summer to work on her and feel confident she should be all I wanted by September 1st.

Sounds like she is doing great. Lets see some pics.

I have been taking mine out 2-3 times a week to some of my close spots on the marsh, then his last couple retrieves we work up a small river from the mouth (dog wash). So far I have been taking it pretty easy and trying to make the marsh trips like a relaxed morning hunt, while keeping it short enough to keep him focused. So far so good.

Still needs some refining, but I'd hunt him in the morning if I could. This is definitely the best therapy for the long off season.
