Getting a motor mount for my Aire Traveller

I Have recently purchased a used Aire traveller. I want to have the ability to use a motor for some different hunting/fishing applications. I have some ideas for building a motor mount but I was hoping that someone with expierience with side motor mounts on inflatables might be able to give some good insight. I would appreciate any info but I'm specifically looking for: side mount construction, size of motor, and capability of the traveller with load and in whitewater. Thanks for any info.

Hi Brian,
I posted a similar post and didnt get a whimper of help.
I think Soar or Sotar makes a mount which can be retroed. But they are expensive!
I'm going to blow up my raft and take it too my local muffler shop. ( I'll keep it away from sparks... ) I'm gonna see if one of those guys can mandrel bend some stainless or aluminized tubing for a mount. I'll then have them weld a back plate on it. One way or another I'll git er done. I'll post results when I wrap it up.

Have you talk to Tracy or Jeff at AR&K? There are many ways to attempt to manufacture one. Grabner has one as well as SOAR. Your best option might be to configure one with a frame that attaches to the Back of your traveler.

Schedule 40 Anodized Aluminum pipe is standard NRS frame material. Bend it utilize a couple of NRS knuckles to a mini frame and mount a standard Aluminum 1/4 plate 12"x12" and you have a motor mount. Bad news is you can purchase something similar from AR&K for about he same price. Good news is you can make it to your desired specifications.

Thanks for the info- I might just haul my boat around to a couple of local fabricators and see if they can square me away. I checked out the Grabner side mount...is there any known reason for the very large price tag?

Sorry to say Name Brand is the only reason I can think of. Many Moons ago I did the same thing your attempting to accomplish. Found a wealth of information from AR&K after the fact. Give Tracy a call I am sure he would assist you. Best Wishes.

I cant figure why prices are so high either. I guess because its an item hard to find and they know it.

The fabricator thing is the answer, I'm doing the same thing. You should be able to build one for about half the price. Find a muffler shop with some down time and bargain.
