I HAVE A 22FT SEARUNNER WITH A HARD TOP AND A 150HP YAMAHA I DO NOT HAVE THE EXTENDED TRANSOM. I AM CURIOUS WHAT KIND OF GAS MILAGE THE REST OF YOU ARE GETTING. IT SEEMS I AM ONLY GETTING 2.8 MPG. WITH VARIABLE RPM'S (29-40). DOES THAT SEEM RIGHT? DOES VARYING THE SPPED INCREASE CONSUMPTION OVER GOING AT ONE CONSTANT SPEED. IS THERE ANY WAY TO INCREASE MY MPG WITH A DIFFERENT PROP ETC...?

Searunner - your dealer should be able to help you out with some generallities. Check this out for a reference. It's the Yamaha Performance Bulletin. It shows a variety of information that should give you some of the answers your looking for. I tried to find your specific boat but they don't list it. Heres the closest boat/motor to yours.

As for props - I have 21' North River Seahawk with a Yamaha 150. I have tried a few different props. So far the 14x17 has worked the best. I would imagine it would be the sweet spot for you. There are lots of threads on props on this site and others. Do a search and check it out. Good luck...

I have the 22 SR HT ET with a 150 Yamaha. I cruise at 4900 rpm, 30-32 mph and burn between 9-10 gallons per hour. 3-3.3 mpg. I installed the Lowrance fuel flow meter with my GPS that gives me the burn rate. I am running the black Yamaha 17 pitch prop. The motor burns about 16 gallons per hour wide open and tops out 39-41 mph.

Searunner, I did a lot of prop changing on my prox 22' boat with a 150 Honda including 15 X 19, 15 X 17, 15 X 15 - all three blade. Finally I tried a 4 bladed 15 X 15 and got the best mileage of 3.5 mpg. (I think a 4 blade 15 X 16 would be about perfect for me.) I use a flometer and a gps to test and the advice to get a flow meter is right on. It will be the most valuable gauge on your boat. The local prop shop here in Anchorage will let you try different props as long as you don't ding one.

I would think your mileage is way down. I have a 24 foot Sea Sport with a 375 hp inboard 496 ci . Boat fueled weighs about 8,000 pounds and I am averaging 2- 2.2 mpg running 25-30 mpg with 3 adults on board.

I Think I Have Figured Out What Has Happened. I Moored My Boat In Homer For 6 Days And I Am Not Sure How Many But Multiple Boats Moored Up To Mine And Since I Have No Mechanical Problems Or Leaks, I Think Some Was Syphoned Out Of My Tank. I Hate To Think This Is The Problem. Any Other Suggestions As To Where 25-35 Gallons Of Feul Could Have Gone?
I Calculated My Milage To Feul Consumption @ 3mpg And I Am Missing 27 Gallons Of Feul. I Do Not Have A Locking Gas Cap But I Am Going To Do Some Research To Find One.
