Anyone interested in getting together to do a run up to knik glacier or run the matanuska in may? I have the 3rd-17th off of work and itd be cool to have a convoy of boats to run up somewhere and have a barbeque and dink around on the river before fishing gets heavy.

I’m interested but can’t on May 5th. Was hoping it might open up by end of April

I have April 10-24 and May 9-21 if anyone goes I would do my best to go too. I only got one attempt at it last year and ended up on a sandbar. Would love to follow someone who has some experience on the river.

We overlap both times, I'll shoot you a message if I find water this days off and we can go run it

I just picked up a 11.5' mini and I'm dying to get out and test her out. Either this Friday, Saturday or Sunday I'm gonna be running the knik to get a feel for how she runs. Anyone know how open the Knik is from the Glenn Hwy up to or past the old Glenn bridge?

I'd go splash it in at Whittier or Seward til you get the feel of it. Rivers. Icy banks and ice chunks floating. Nothing like trial by fire! Pick a calm day on the salt instead.

I might be game if I am back from Ketchikan. Just a FYI, You might want to break in the Sport jet per Mercury specifications before you dunk it in the Knik. Its pretty shallow this time of year and you will have a good chance of sticking her on a sand bar pretty quick. Finger lake will open soon.

Colin,
Glen breaks in all of my sport jet motors per MERC SPEC before he ships them to us. That way when a customer buys his Wooldridge it is water ready and we all know it is broke in properly and Wooldridge tested.

Heck we even had a couple mud motors run with us up to the glacier a few years ago. I was shocked at how fast they were.

So is there a date for this yet? I have a new to me 1875 XS I can’t wait to get out. Ran Knik several times with my old G3...

At the rate our "spring" is going over here in the Yukon, we'll be lucky to get in the water by June.....

I'm guessing it isn't open yet? Haven't been up that way in a few weeks. If it is open, I'd be game for this Sunday.

Guys have been launching just down river from the Old bridge for a little bit now, and not just Airboat’s. Saw a few Jon’s and a jet dingy the last couple of days.
