I pigged out and over ate dinner tonight, and even though I had already hiked my miles earlier, I decided to
take a short walk, and found no bear tracks on either hike, but found three more bait stations. Yes less than 1/2 mile from two (2) houses. Yes you can see the houses from one of the bait stations.

I sure hope the guy with all the candy and "Fruit'loops sets up this year.

So here is my question to you'all (I assume it is OK that they have food in and on the barrels today Unit # 7) So if it is illegal to use someones station with out their permission is it also illegal to tell friends (Not that there is a station there) but go here and cheerp on a predator call.

Cracks me up.......bear baiter's, "You'll never find my station"..........Hehehehehe

Note: This year I am not "LOOKING" for bait stations, I was just out for a walk, looking for tracks, and found them.

I think you should report the illegal stands. It's pretty easy to find the stands in that kind of forest. Human trails develop quickly in the ground moss down there. My stand is a pain to get to, but after about 4 trips in and out, there is no hiding it. By the way, do you know who the martin trapper is down there? I pass through his trap line on the way in and out.

Yes, He works for the U.S. Forest Service. Was it a Daily News Box or a wooden box.......? Note: I was in your area earlier today and saw no bear tracks, none.

The two houses are on the "Other" side of Six Mile Creek, and even though the stations are too close, I doubt they endanger the cabins.
And I have made clear I preference that sportsmen harvest the bears. If it was with-in a 1/2 mile of my cabin (Shack) I would leave them a note to not be there next year. I hope that brown colored black bear hits your station this year.

Yes.............at mile 5.3 Hope Road. But I don't care, so harvest some black bears. Most likely I picked up someones permitt that was on the ground, as it appears to have been put-up with one small nail. To be clear, I do not care. I just want the bears harvested. There were NO tracks, and the groceries were not touched, even by the birds. Kill Bears.

For as much talking as you do about illegal stands you not reporting them to the troopers when you have exact locations makes you just as guilty as the perps IMO. Yes you want bears harvested which is awesome and I agree with you that these practices put a black eye on the baiting community and I would like to clean up the image as much as possible. If you dont want to report them shoot me a PM with some coordinates and I will report them even tho I am a couple hundred miles away. If you think they endanger the cabins or not illegal is illegal.

Sorry, I have made my feelings clear, the very last thing I want is to skin'out one more bear and give it to F&G. If they are trouble on my farm, I try to push them off, by getting in their comfort space, and run them down the power line. I am NO rightous. I just want the bears dead. If a "FAT" lazy 64 year old Can find three stands in one after dinner walk, and the COPS are to spitting lazy to get their boots dirty, well tough for them. I say kill the bears on the Hope Road, and save me having to do it and throw them into Six Mile Creek.

You may not be aware of this but there are at least four troopers that check out these forums that I am aware of. Two of them I have met personally over the years. One of those meetings was because of something I had posted on here the day before. He had to come check it out officially the next day. There are probably more Troopers that are not members, but just review the forums.

With AGL4now posting what he notices in his walks the Troopers have all they need to go down and take a look. However, the main issue is that a lot of the issues down there are taking place on Federal land and not state land so the Green Pants guys get first crack at it. Apparently the Green Pants guys don't like to get out of their truck. They might even be seeing it as a State resource issue (bears) that they don't want to deal with.

After what is happening in court in Fairbanks over the Wilde boating incident last year on the Yukon there may be a push from the Fed managment to back off enforcement of State rules. Meaning the Green Pants guys will only get out of their truck if you are violating Federal rules.

AGL4now is putting the enforcement community on notice that their job performance is being monitored. He has given enough information on this public forum - that they are known to review - for them to do their job.

Kudos to AK Ray and AGL4now...very well put gents..

We all know the law enforcement community is strapped thin as it is....if they want to get their boots dirty..so be it...doubt it though. They know there are plenty of bears and some need to go. They are obligated to respond to a call though, so if one of the cabin/home owners makes a call..maybe somone will show up..small community out there and they love it that away...the less attention they get or bring the better..so doubt that too....good luck guys and make some rugs!

So we will agree to disagree. I don't agree with someone breaking the law and no one saying anything. However, if your feeling is that strong, who am I to tell you your wrong. IMO those people need to be told to move there stands at the very least. For 2 reasons, first it is against the law. Second its the right thing to do. If I had a house (cabin) with in that area, and I didn't know there was a bear stand a 1/2 mile away, I would let my childeren outside to play. They are small helpless people and putting them in the same area as bears is dumb. If I knew there was a stand within a mile of someone's house (no matter if I would want the bears gone or not) i would do the right thing and report them or at the very least tell them to move it. I had to move my stands this year after finding a cabin in my last stand area.

BTW AGL4now, if you are killing bears and throwing them in a river, are you doing it illegeally? Do you "harvest them or just kill them? Do you report it when you do kill them? Just a thought.

I disagree, just because he finds one, AGL4now isn't guilty of establishing a bait station illegally, nor does he have a legal obligation to report a percieved illegal bait station to LEO.

The way I see it not everyone but some say how lazy cops are I call BS. I dont know what everyone else does for a living but this state is huge and we have some many Troopers to do the job and at time people think the should be every where. I dont know of one trooper if you called them and told them where these site are they would check it out. And yes I am a police officer not fish and game but I know alot of troopers. If your not part of the sulotion then your part of the problem. Call it in if nothing happens call the troopers sgt. We are all trying to do the right thing but we all have to take a part in making sure the right things happen.

Great comments.. I can't give you feedback since I recently did on another post but your words are worthy of some rep points.

For a guy that "doesn't care" you spend a significant amount of time on the issue. Personally, I find it hard to believe anyone can find that many stands and never leave the trail but since I dont know you I have no choice but to take your word for it. Who knows, maybe your a natural magnet for such things - stranger things have happened. That said, it seems to me you must like and/or frankly want the attention and while you claim to want the bears "thinned out" your posts seem to critique bear hunters and baiters more often than not. I know my words may be sharp, but if you "find" what you believe are illegal stands and insist on posting and complaining about them in a public forum you know is a sounding board to the Alaskan hunting and law enforcement community its really not a stretch to get off your keyboard, be proactive, and call a LEO - especially if your honestly worried about your 13 friends with water bottles, dogs, cats, chickens, etc. While your at it, when talking to the LEO ask why they don't patrol your stomping grounds since conditions are so bad. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be curious to learn their response.

In the end, I suspect you wont do anything but sit and continue to complain. If that's the case, it's unfortunate, but hey, it's a free country and you have the right to address issues or ignore them. Ill ask this though.. If your not going to report such things quit giving the baiting community a black eye with your negative comments, rants, criticism and reported findings - the majority of the baiting community that works within the law deserves better.
