I am looking for a way to organize the multitude of fly rods I always end up bringing out on the water. They always seem to end up in the back of the boat in a tangled mess. Definitely don't want to drill into the hull, got any suggestions?
Strap about 7' of 2" pvc to the inside of each gunwale, then slide the rods inside.
Not sure who started it (maybe clackacraft?), but a lot of newer driftboats have this option.
You might try 9ft 2inches of 3 inch PVC. Angle. Them down as they go forward. Does a couple things. First your rod tips are enclosed. it also makes it easier to get the rods out. I lines mine with thin carpet. Couldn't stand listening to them scrape down when I put them in. I attached them with a U bolt about 3 ft from the top. Then cut the PVC on the top end above the U bolt in half level with the top of the gunnel. Makes it way easier to get the. Rods in and out and they are still protected. Got one on each side. Like bolsters.
