That looks like a silvergray to me. I've never heard anyone say that dusky's were great eating. Maybe you been mis-id'ing them?

Yup! The rockfish is a silvergray.

I've had occasion to eat most of the ones you can expect to catch and none have been less than excellent eating. I wish they weren't often so danged old or I'd forgo most other fish to have a freezer full of em. But they don't freeze the best for long either so mine will be gone by Christmas.

Nicest fish I caught this year. About 70 degrees that day. One week before the local derby and that would have easily been a Top 10 fish
