I have my trip planned for this year. However I'm going to Wasilla the first weekend in Aug next year, Aug 4th & 5th, 2007.

I want to fish for salmon. Am I better off fishing in the Wasilla area or driving down to Soldotna and fishing there?

Should I go early and fish the first week or should I stay late and fish the second?

My wife and I are not hard core fisherman, we just want to have fun.

Thanks very much in advance.

Little Su..

Little Su..

and most of the Parks Hwy. streams north of Wasilla should provide some excellent Silver fishing around that timeframe. A charter on the Little Su for silvers runs around $80-120 per person for a 1/2 day last I heard.

So you think I'm better off fishing for silvers in the Mat-Su rather than reds in the Kenai? Which week would be better? First or second?

That's for helping a newbie out.

I had a blast last year fishing Bird Creek in early August. My brother is coming up for first 2 weeks in August and we plan on fishing mostly at Bird. I will let you know how we do. Pretty much all streams have silvers at that time.
