Estimating live weight of bison

Anybody know of a formula for estimating the live weight of a bison? We ended up with 700 pounds of meat and bones after skinning and quartering. Thanks.

what ever you end up with boneless meat. that is 1/3 of what the live wight of the animal was.

When I inspected beef for the Air Force the general guide was you would receive 48-52% boned out meat from the live weight. I would think a bison would be close to a beef cow.

On page 26 of the current hunting regs, there are some estimated weights of big game animals including live weights. They are maximum weights.
