Does anyone have any info on Eska Fall, (Jonesville Mine)? Sign says it is closed till fall of '07. Gates put up before you get to the lake on the second road. What's up. Lots of area closed off. Probably too much abuse...Eric

The side roads (off Jonesville Road) are gated right right at the road. I am not sure that I have the straight answer on it but it is due to the mine remediation work going on there.
So access to the north end of the Buffalo Mine-Sutton trail system is closed off.
You still can park at the gravel pit at the end of the tar on Jonesville or go to the Coyote Lake Parking area at the end of Jonesville and ride the trails back in the valley. The ATV Club is having a ride out of the gravel pit this Sunday at 10AM for a run up to Eska Falls, come on out.

A friend of mine was talking to some workers on the Sutton trail. He was told someone fell through a hole in the ground that used to be filled with smoldering coal. Also I have been told they are extinguishing the coal in this area.

I could be wrong thought, dont take it to heart. :)

That is some of what I heard about. I heard the mine has been of fire for close to 50 years. Not sure how accurate that was. If it has been burning for 50 years, why the concern now? If there are folks falling through holes, now that is another story. Also heard they have been having problems with some transients throwing razor or barbed wire in the lake where folks swim. Eric

The run to Eska Falls Sunday was great! Did see some HEAVY equipment rolling into the mine area, looks like serious dirt moving going on but didn't see any area that looked like it was being worked on. Anyway, the trail to the falls is open for bidness!
