How does one access the edit feature?

The edit feature is time sensitive. It is possible to edit your post for 20 minutes, I believe. After that, editing is no longer possible. I'm glad to have this edit feature; it's one of the most requested features we had when we were using the old system.

The point of the time limitation is to avoid confusing threads. If I write something, and then someone posts in response to my words, and then I edit my original post to make that response meaningless, then the thread becomes much less useful.

I have already seen this happen, even with a 20 minute cutoff.

Thanks for asking....David

In the event of a real problem, I don't mind deleting a post, or at least editing it.

It would really help under the swap & sell forum to be able to edit at anytime. For example if an item is no longer for sale it would help if the original post could be edited to say sold,or pending funds,or withdrawn, also if someone wants to retitle the ad to say price reduced.Otherwise if an item sold and the poster went back and replied to his own ad that the item sold, the ad would be bumped to the top of the list. Then anyone interested in an item would have to read through the entire thread to find the disposition of an item. Thanks

I just looked to see if we could do that. Unfortunately, editing locked after xx minutes is a global feature and cannot be configured for individual forums. Good idea. Wish we could...

Thanks...David

I thought it was just me, but now I see that others have tried to edit and or delete a post. Wish we could delete at least when things are sold.

As David stated, you can always send a PM to either me or another of the moderators asking that your post be edited or deleted. As for rude comments left in a swap-and-sell ad, please bring those to our attention and they will be taken care of. Thanks.

Just revisiting this - all of my pictures links in my Big Boss thread are broken, and I wanted to try to update them. However editing is not possible, and I would never want a mod to spend hours updating 200+ posts. Thoughts? I suppose we're just out of luck...

Let me get with Mike on this one. Perhaps this is something we can consider for supporting members.
