I look forward to good days in the field with great friends,....and rut-crazed bulls!!!!

Heck ya! I plan on spending 100 days hunting, even if I stick or thump a moose opening day, I will still have hunted for 3 weeks prior to find "that special bull" practicing calling and stalking, and ust being out there and learning. plus, What better time to learn about moose than during season? and hay, if I get one early, what better way to get on good terms with the dad of "that special girl at church" than to help him bag his first big ol mossy backed bull?

just my thoughts

just my thoughts

Harry,

I wish I could go with you this fall, but I guess while you are in alaska making things happen, I will be in Colorado trying to make things happen with an elk and my bow!! When you see marcus give him a hug for me, one of these days we all need to get together and chase some bou up north!

i hear ya. A buddy and I just put up an honest cord or more of firewood last week for our moose camp and I don't even plan on going to moose camp. Just so much easier getting things stocked in the winter time. In the plus side we saw a LOT of cows with calves in the area while riding around so hopefully they'll grow into little bullwinkles for the fall to fill the freezers.

Easy does it ...

Easy does it ...

I look forward to moose season too ... but we haven't even gotten into spring bear season yet. So I say, "easy does it" ... savor the moment. Live in the present and look forward to a month down the road ... not six months. I aplaud all who get their camp ready in advance; that's just smart planning.

For now, I'm savoring some 'spring bear' action ... and then a little salmon fishing ... and finally a great moose hunt!

No moose hunting for this guy this year :(. Headed off to college. Be awhile before I'm shooting any bulls.

Pike,

Don't let school stop you from hunting and fishing. I went to school outside and certainly missed all the fall opportunites in AK, but made sure to take advantage of what was available down there that I couldn't do in AK. I especially enjoyed being able to hunt waterfowl all the way into January. Steelhead, bass, catfish, sturgeon, ducks, geese, chukar, quail, turkey, doves, etc.

FAI
A good friend and his gal are coming back to FAI after years of being gone. So we all tried our hand at the draw, and lo and behold ended up with 2 cow tags and 1 for a bull. I'm pretty stoked about getting out with him and another good friend who still lives here. Last night I got on You Tube (we just got faster internet service) and watched hours of videos, most on moose hunting. I was so excited that I called him down in Juneau to tell him.
I am looking forward to this years adventures. I hope for now I find new moose videos to watch and drool over,
ARR
