Check out Cody Pass if low snow, new bridge over the Tanana, if the Yanert is frozen up and over into Dick Creek, lots of opportunity if somebody has time and patience to explore.
Have you been out there recently? I have made these hunt a few times, only successful once and yes they were up high that time.
Currently not enough snow for snow machines and too much snow for Argos, that's the case approaching from the north.
I have a pretty good situation as I helped a friend build a cabin out there and took the snow machine out there last march, essentially it would be a fly in hunt for me, if the stars were aligned, unfortunately they are not.
I injured a leg a month ago and still healing, I could not do my share at this point and would not be fair to burden my hunting partner.
He is stuck there on skis, however the landing and taking off in town is still wheels.
We were hoping to get this done early, when there was more daylight and possibly better temps... its open until mid December, so maybe it will work out yet...!
Apparently a group made it across Totatlinka, and now trying to cross the Tat, they went North looking for a place to cross and have machine stuck in the creek..... and its supposed to warm up starting Monday, which will not help freeze the creek.
Its my understanding the Tat is the more difficult of the two to cross....
Moose are still up high in the Wood River area and the mtns are pretty much brown in the lower valley area. Still probably an ATV game up high at least. Any updates on the river conditions?
I have not been out there and will not be able to make this hunt, the group did manage to cross the river and may still be in the area. Good luck crossing rivers, 40F at God King yesterday.
