Denali Highway riding

Hey all, My Dad (who I haven't seen in over 20 years) is coming up to Alaska to visit for the summer. He really wants to tow the ATV's out somewhere remote to ride them. I was thinking the Denali Hwy area would be a perfect place to camp/ride. I've driven the Hwy several times but have never paid any attention to any ATV trails off of the Hwy. Can somebody please point me in the direction of some good 4-wheeling off of the Denali Highway? Obviously, I want to stay off of private land, etc.
Any help/advice would me much appreciated.

Most big maps of Alaska will show the trails. If not just pick up a topo map and it will

I know there are pretty obvious trails near Seattle creek and Brushkana. I've been on the Brushkana trail a couple of times about 10 miles in. I've heard good things about the Seattle creek trail too. Lots of grayling in these waters. Another thing you might try is the Eureka area. Gobs of trails (mostly in good shape too) leaving right from the lodge or one of the many pull outs, good grayling fishing and wildlife and pretty easy riding for novices (assuming your dad) if need be.

regarding the trail by brushkana river on the denali highway.What side of the road is it on?And roughly what milepost.Ive heard about it ,but never tried it.I do most of my riding near the big su crossing and the mcclaren area.

the milepost, but take a look at a topo map and you should be able to find it pretty easy. Seems like we were about 1/2 way between Cantwell and the Big su. Most of the trails you want will go off the South side of the road. If you go to the North you will run into the river (the Nenana river I think, don't have a map in front of me) pretty quickly which runs parallel to the hwy.

Speaking of private property. Moores Camp has some real nice access trails. I caribou hunted there one time. He charges a real modest fee to camp at his place and there is access to trails all out behind his place. I forget the mile marker now but it is on the Paxon side of the Susitna river.

Thanks to all who replied. Very helpful. I don't believe my dad ever rode before. I'm sure he is capable of riding almost anywhere. Just wondering....is there still a lot of snow right now on the highway? I think I will go camp up there this weekend with the family. If it has pretty much dried out, I'll take the 4 wheelers and that'll give me a pretty good idea of where to take Dad when he comes up. During July, is the riding off the Denali Hwy pretty swampy?

Is there anyplace to rent ATV's on the denail highway? My friends coming up and wants to ride an ATV and I thought Denali would be a god place if one of the lodges rented them. Thanks

One of the lodges did, but I don't know if they let you take them out of their area. Haven't been to any of them myself, check the Milepost.

$10 a day per adult, since you have a kid i'd assume you'd only have to pay for one. Last time I went there Rita(property owner) was there and I just payed her, nice lady. Time before that she left envelopes with her address to send payment to. The trail heading out from there is pretty easy going. Just don't take a left at the bog where it looks like a "bypass" trail, it is far from a bypass and I buried my Rhino bad there. Just stay on the main trail through the bog it isn't bad, it has a solid ground underneath. A lot better than the other trail that leads from Clearwater creek pullout, there is a nasty bog there, I barely made it through that.

Is that $10 a day for camping also? Be nice to park and just ride out of camp. I've got a Grizzly 450 with a winch. Its not the biggest but should do okay if the bottom isn't to deep . I've got an extra 100' rope and recovery kit if needed.

Yes, we camped there in our camper/toy hauler overnight, plenty of room to park usually. Easy going trail and goes to some beautiful country back there. We took 2 caribou off of that trail system and seen many more back there.
