Beartooth, Are those battle scars on the stock of your gun? I'm kinda hoping they are cuz then I'll know I'm not the only one who gets them.

Yes, those are battle scares from Black Bear hunting in the mountains of Arizona and deer, hog hunting in the pine forest of Mississippi and the swamps of Louisiana. I think it gives my rifle it's due character, and like medals on a soldiers uniform.

No rifle (or hunter for that matter) escapes hunting Arizona without some battle scares. Where did ya go and how’d ya do down there? Bear in Arizona ain't an easy thing to find let alone bring home.

I hunted just north and west of the Clifton and Morince area. Man you said a mouth full when you said, "No rifle (or hunter for that mattter) escapes Arizona without some battle scares." Yes, I have been there six times and got one bear. It is a lot of work to spot and stalk a bear there but it is a lot of fun in such a beautiful place.

Ah yes, Coronado Trail, one of the best parts of Arizona and little known even by Arizonans. I have a cousin that has lived near Eagle Creek over 30 years . . . awesome country over there and like most of the State rough as a cob. Treasure that little Arizona bear not many ever get one of them unless it’s over bate, congratulations on that one.

I saw a very large one on Coronado trail and I tried two years to cut him off and get a shot. I hope I get to try again and you are so right about the land scape being steep and rough as a cob. Fell off a leg and destroy a scope. Good thing I had a back up rifle which I always take when I go there.
