Caribou pack list for 26B...

My dad will be coming up next year in August for a caribou hunt. We plan on doing the hike in and hunting for atleast a week. I am looking for a good packing list of what to take, and weight if anyone has it. Also curious on a good 4 man tent that would be good for up there in August. I am thinking of packing in a small raft, to maybe float gear/caribou out. Thanks for any help...

I'm assuming that you are talking about walking the 5 miles out off of the haul rd? If you go for a week out there that is allot of stuff to be carring out there. The tundra is rough up there if you did not know. Also If you go up the Ivashak Then you could float back down to the sag and unload yor gear from there. I will see if I can find my packing list

As AKGray said, five days worth of supplies is a lot across the tundra. I have two lists at home I will attach latter. My goat hunting pack, three days worth of food plus tent and bow attached weighs less than 35 pounds.

The float trip sounds like a better way to do it. And a lot more fun; fish, take pictures and more.

Hey AKGray, could a Scanoe and one person do that trip you mentioned?

Dave it all depends on the water level. For the most part if you run a prop I will say no. tomany rock. Now if you get the guy up there to drop you off and float back to the sag no problem.

Alaska Gray: Wondering if you could tell me who that guy up there is? I have always wanted to do a float hunt but probably can't afford to a fly-in?...maybe having a guy drive you up the river and then float back is the answer? I have heard of that for Yukon river hunts also. Do you know anybody who would do a drop off? Finally, wondering if you ever posted your recommended packing list. I did not see it in this forum.
