Hello AK Fishermen,

I've been looking everywhere for rod holders that will clamp onto 1¼" vertical supports/tubing. These are for active fishing (halibut, salmon, etc.) not storage. Horizontal & plate mounted units are everywhere but I can't seem to find ones that will work with my size tubing and that don't cost $$$. The models designed for 1" tubing don't grip well enough.

Any suggestions? Mail order is fine but would love to buy local (ANC or the Valley).
Thanks,
Mary

Barinak - I've stopped in and checked out their products. No go. Thanks for the suggestion.

That off-sized tubing is a tough one to crack. You'll see them in 1" and smaller, but I don't know of a one for 1 1/4". Break out the bux time, I fear, and have some made.

Find a 1" holder that is thick enough that you can bore out to 1 1/4". Should be enough material there to bore it out without getting into your screw holed that attach the two pieces together.
An option that might be a possibility!

akmary, I HAVE A down-east rodholder that will adapt to many mounting situations. Google DOWN EAST RODHOLDERS.

They sell on Amazon, Bass Pro they even list Walmart. Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's a "feature" of some of the site software- They announced it a few years back. Evidently when the software recognizes a word in a post, it can automatically install a link to a source. I've checked, and it's so deeply buried that when you try to edit your post and remove it, the link isn't even visible in your own dialog box. Ah well. Good for a laugh.

Alaska raft and kayak carries a base mount that clamps on. I bought one from them last year. Check them out.
