Looks like that would work well for giving you stability for casting. Not sure about rough water though. I was thinking of building outriggers for my canoe that way I could dipnet with it. Maybe some EMT conduit from lowes & not sure what to make the outrigger from?

Dont know if this is what your looking for, but in the lattest cabela's marine catalog the had a out rigger set up. Its called a stabillizer kit stock nr. SL-02-0568. Bring up cabela's web site and put the stock nr in and it will give you an idea.

I agree with Perrina, those look like they will work well. But the price, ouch. This is what I use for my 17' Osage. My wife cant swim and these are the ONLY way I could get her to feel safe enough to ride in the canoe. They slide out 2' on each side which makes my canoe almost 8' wide. I pull them in when motoring ( higher speeds) across a lake though.

out riggers they all look good, but remenber they are for large water only not for small streams. need to stay away from speepers , to run the rivers/streams along the parks HWY would not be good streams to run

get ahold of danattherock...If I remember correctly he had a pair of inflatables for his pack canoes. I think that they might work and they would be alot less weight and easier to pack and carry.

Funny you say this, I just read the thread myself. We use spontoons on our Ally pack canoe. Bergans of Norway makes them. They also make one like your link had. Shoot me a pm if you want any other info.
