Came across this new pot puller built in Canada, sort of like the Ace but on steroids. Heavy duty switch, 8 gauge wires, 1.5hp motor, quality parts all around. Called and talked to the owner said it would be about $75 shipping to Alaska, and with the weak Canadian dollar the total price would be even less. Real nice guy seems to know his stuff.
Like the fact it’s portable like the Ace and about the same size when folded up, he said it weighs about 9lbs more. Also uses the Scotty mount just like the Ace. My Ace pot puller has performed solid for about 6 seasons now, but lacks to power sometimes when the wind comes up or the current in running hard, would be nice to have more power to get the job done without any further mods to the boat. I already have 8 gauge running to my Scotty plugs.
He only sells direct, no dealers said the price would be about $200 more. Think I’ll buy one before he starts having them mass produced.

A few things jump out at me on the webb site. The ISO 9001 they reference for the drive motor just means or should say manufactured under a ISO 9001 certification. ISO 9001 is a Quality Management System.

The 125# pull rating to me is very light. I am not knocking the puller since I have never seen one work in person! I am just curious and wondering why they don't have more photo's of every side and angle. Very limited photo's. Also Alaska tested means what?? Pulled a pot in Alaska?

The "Hands Free Dualler Plate" looks like an attachment plate for coiling, that could be made to fit most any puller to me.

I have tried several different pot pullers and settled on the Safe-T-Puller/My-T-Puller. Very happy with both, no issues pulling 5 shrimp pots (each half full)on a long line from 700 feet of water or a 350# crab pot in Homer from 550 feet of water. I have used the scotty mounted ACE line puller and moved on up. I know now there are better pullers then the My-T-Puller out there, but for the best cost to ability???

I did have a Safe-T-Puller but someone needed it more then I did in Seward last spring, so my new My-T-Puller has not pulled a Tanner pot in Homer yet just pots in PWS and South of Seward! I finally got a slip in Homer this winter, so my Shrimp runs are limited now.

If you get one I would love to see it and hear how it works for you on your boat. Maybe some one on here has used one. I would like to have a coiler for sure.

The guy said Alaska is his best customer so maybe someone on here has one. Agree it would be nice to get some feedback from someone using one or who has. I’m really not inclined to buy without some postive feedback. Granted there are other pullers more powerful but not as storable which really makes this one desirable for mysetup.

Jay take a look at how much weight he has in that pot (none) just a little chunk of chain for weight. Now look at how fast that hauler is pulling one pot in flat calm conditions, looks pretty slow to me, now just think how fast it will pull with 3-5 pots with some weight in them and a little wind and/or current thrown in the mix ??? It looks to me that it works like a windlass by taking a wrap around the plate(must be rubber coated like others) and i'd bet if you get a bit of strain on it it will slip and cause the rubber to wear out quickly ??? OK one last nitpik look at how small the throat of the block is, no knots can go through it ??

I agree...the footage showing how the floating and sinking lines are joined together and how that splice, knot or whatever transitions the block is edited out. No big deal if you're hauling singles...much more challenging if there's still another 3-4 pots and several hundred feet of line hanging. Bring extra fingers...

Thanks for the updated link. The other link didn't work for me either. Well since I am looking at the craiglist ad. I see the motor is really small compared to what I have seen on other pullers. What I really don't like is the electric plug. That type plug I have used on electric tugs and other units, beware that plug is not weather proof at all. Had one burnout in a snow storm trying to move an aircraft with an electric tug!

I don't know how to down load some pics for you to see what I am comparing this to. Someday I will figure this out on this forum. I see in my profile I had some Bou pics that are gone now also. Back in 2011 after my buddy AKNIMROD passed away I ended my old profile made a new one and have not had much luck putting stuff on this forum and have not posted much on the forums like I used to!

I use this type Anderson connector with my puller...Got them @ Polar Wire. Mine are installed so they are totally weather protected, but they also have a boot available for exposed situations. I like that they self abrade/clean each time they are connected and have a very firm, slop free fit.

First off I’m not indorsing this pot puller, just throwing it out there in hopes someone has had experience with it or knows someone directly who has.
I should have made the name of the thread: Feedback on Max Power Trap Hauler.

A couple of things to note, the video on the web site is demonstrating the hands free attachment using an ACE pot puller, not the “MAX-Power”Trap Hauler.

Second, the plug that comes with the unit can simple be cutoff or removed then replace with whatever plug you would like to use. I personally would remove it and attach a Scotty two prong twist plug; I already have 8 gauge wire running to my Scotty plugs.

Unless space and cost are your biggest driving factors I would heartily endorse the Electra-dyne. It just DOESN'T EVER GIVE UP! Save yourself the heartache and the learning curve...
