Check with Steve Brown at the extension service office in Palmer they have recommend a Grass for air strips that does well but does not require a lot of maintenance . 745-3639

Get some red fescue, seed is dirt cheap, sod forming and is winter hardy and really does not get to tall. The old AK variety is arctared but seed might be hard to come by. Any other white label red fescue from mill and feed will work.

i put down 2 bags of the seed that costco has- it was some sort of mix & had fert in with it. anyhow- it has grown in nicely. it said it was drought resistant, but needed moisture til 3". It has grown significantly better where I have kept the babies watered. It took about 10 days to germ where I kept it watered 15-20 min a day- longer where I didn't.
