bringing home hide and meat from Kotz??

Does anybody know if we can take green hides and unfrozen meat home on the plane to Chicago or if we have to have it stamped/processed somehow?

Look on the Alaska Airllines website. They have all the info you need.
FYI...apply to become a "Known Shipper" and you will save a small fortune in shipping out of Kotz....especially antlers.

You should be able to buy 50# "Fish Boxes" and plastic to ship your meat...freeze it if you can. The airlines will not accept anything leaking or smelling!
An antler box will run about $40-50 at the airport. (Cost of the cardboard box...not shipping cost~$300)

If you can afford it plan on one extra day in Kotz each way..fog will ruin your plans.

Why Chicago? Are you closer to there. How about Milwaukee?
If you hunt out of bettles, you can plan on being in Fbks for a day which has better services. Tho you could also plan a day in Anch travelling back from Kotz.

We'll be flying out of Chicago to save some money(about $100 per person).
Here is my current plan for getting our critters home.
1. In Kotz either take meat, antlers and capes with us to Anchorage as extra baggage or have Alaska Air Cargo or Northern Air Cargo ship it to Anchorage for us to pick up next day.
2. Take meat to Indian Valley meats for processing($.50/lb) and shipping home($2./pound??)
3. Take hides and antlers to Knights taxidermy or D&C expediters for prep and shipping home.

How does this sound?

I used D&C for my bear hide and they did a fine job!! I flew it from Valdez to Anchorage and they went to the airport and picked it up and then shipped it to my taxidermest just outside of Milwaukee when it was done!! They did a great service for me!! Hoosierhunter

That's an excellent plan; exactly what I would do. I might say that I prefer Knight's though. Just personal preference.

Be aware that Alaska Airlines' "antler express" program has a brochure online. You might check the cost of that against your other options.
