My cabelas dry plus waist highs are starting to wear thin at the seams on the lower legs. I guess it is probably about time to get a new set as they seem to want to leak.
Is there a brand / model anyone highly reccomends? Is there a difference in quality between Simms, Cabelas, hodgeman etc ..... ?

Simms is top of the line stuff if you're willing to spend the money. I'm on my fourth (and probably last) season on a pair of Hodgman Guidelites. They all seem to get wear holes eventually on the inside of the legs where they rub together. Aquaseal applied to these spots as they show up greatly extends the lifespan. The worst pair I've had was a Cabelas dry plus guide version. It seemed like the fabric was too brittle and wore through easily. I returned those for a full refund after a couple of weekends in them.

I still have my Simms waist-high Guide Model waders, but last year I sprung for some G4 chest waders. The best thing about the G4's is they seem to have less drag in the water than other waders, including my Guide Models. I can wade deeper and faster water without feeling like the current will take me down. That's worth something. Next year's model will have a zipper! How cool will it be to pee without getting undressed in the rain? Very cool!

I wore a footie out on my Guide Models. It got thin in the heel and started to seep. I sent them to Simms, who replaced the footies on both legs and returned them via express shipping for free. They didn't fail, I wore them out. I was impressed. That kind of service offsets the higher price. My next waders will be Simms, too. Good stuff, made in Montana.

I would recommend Simms all the way, I have been very happy with my Rivertek Convertable waders. (waist/chest) Great quality and I have been surprised a couple of times thinking that I had just punched a hole in them on a sharp branch or sharp piece of metal and the things are Iron tough. I will never buy anything else. A little more pricey, yes but it is sooo true with these things that you get what you pay for.
