hey guys I'm wondering what are you using to treat your boots? I've got a set of danners that are great but it is about that time for another water proofing layer. so if you don't mind sharing your secrets or traditions. what product or products? how do you apply? I'm looking for the whole story, even where is the best place to purchase what you use. I appreciate anything and thanks in advance.

Obenauf's LP. I initially put on a coat of their oil because the leather was getting wrecked, but the LP is fine. Just make sure you have a way to heat up you boots to where they're very warm to the touch to help it soak in.

I bought mine from their website, but SW has it in their shoe section.

nikwax, aqueous wax. have used it on full grain leather scarpas and nubuck lowas. works great.

On straight leathers I've always used Hubbards

..but a recent investment of gore-tex lined boots (great investment btw) left me trying Obenauf's from S. Whorehouse. So far it seems to do what it advertised, though it does require more heat then most boot grease I've applied. Study is still ongoing but so far so good.

Grangers G-wax.. A water based repellant that will not clog the pores of Gore-tex.. Recomended by Lowa and it goes on with a tip applicator like shoe polish.

No sticky residue, no color change, Water beads up and rolls off like rain on the hood of my freshly waxed truck. Straight up........Ken
