What’s with the boat on the beach at Pigot Point, we saw it on the way in Monday morning. Heard the CG ch22 info but no detail. Someone said they hit something and holed the boat.
Then there was something about a FV sinking of Crafton; that was also broadcasted on 22.
Nothing in the papers today or here on the forum.
We turn off the radio at night so must have missed all the fuss, makes for way better sleeping.
Hope nobody got hurt.

The only thing I heard Sunday evening was a guy running out of fuel between Perry and Culross and something going on near Valdez...

I drove by their Monday morning and noticed it also, seen people do I stopped for assistance. turned out to be a guy and gal with a lab from anchorage. Guy was in the process of buying his sisters boat. They sank sat and sat for 2 days, I contacted the coast guard on channel 16, gave them their info, recovered the people and some gear that was salvageable, took em back to Whittier around 11am. The guy said the gasket around the exhaust blew out, when they slowed down, it took on water fast and was submerged in a minute.. They got in s tiny dingy and made it to shore. That night st high tide it washed up on the beach..

My call sign is jägermeister,

um... Wasilla...
We listened to your conversation with the CG on Monday Hoyt. Those folks were offered a ride to Whittier on Sunday and refused. They seemed to expect the CG to give them a tow. Of course they don't do that.

I commend you for giving them a lift back to the harbor.

We sat off the Weather buoy around 0900 Monday and watched half a dozen boats pass buy the stranded boat, didn’t figure they we in need of a lift. There was no indication from the CG that any vessel was in distress only to watch out for a possible drifting vessel in that vicinity.

Still not sure what was going on off Crafton Island must have been confusion on the CGs end.

In the future regardless of what is preserved I will defiantly investigate these situations further, have no problem with assistance to fellow boaters.

Thank you for offering assistants to these individuals.

Rod,

The guy on the beach told me a guy stopped Saturday sometime but was going out fishing and hunting, they were due back monday afternoon and would stop by.. Just relaying what I was told.. I found it kind of odd that it was in a pretty high travel place and no one stopped.. Ohh well, they made it in to the harbor.. what happens next is betwene them and their insurance.. (if they had it).. I found it strange they were able to get to shore with a cooler, radio, purse and a bottle of jack daniels.. LOL..
