Been trying to do some research on areas to hunt with the new boat. Looking at 25B near circle along the Yukon river. What's this like for caribou. How far of a drive down the Yukon tell your in caribou country and wants the river like along this portion of the Yukon. Also what's a good time of the year to go after them around out there what's the migration patterns. Any help would be much apreciated

It won't take you more than four or five days to be in good caribou country if you put your boat in the river at Circle. Just mosey down to Fort Yukon and head up the Porcupine (the namesake of the herd). Be sure to check the land status as the Doyon folks will be none too tickled for you to harvest OUR caribou.

Corrected the ownership of the caribou in question.....they do not belong to DOYON.

What these guys are trying to say is..............there isn't anywhere accessible from the road system that a guy can launch a boat and get to good bou country. There may be some small opportunity if you get a unit 13 bou tag.
None of the unit 25 area downriver from Circle is caribou country.
You would be better off driving up the haul road with a bow.

I put in for unit 13. Just trying some brain storming. As I can make the five mile hike up north and love hunting that area. looking for options for my father who's a little older and can't hike as far as I can. I understand I could always fly out but I always look for the options with the resources I have before I hire resources I don't have
