Check out Tony Russ's collection. All of his books are excellent. He has some on sheep hunting as well as bear hunting. Also Mark Taylor's Hunting Hard in Alaska series is good. I would start with Tony Russ's depending on what you are after. Much of the information is good for any kind of remote hunting, not just bear and sheep.

I don't think that the book by Taylor is special,he wrote a book.Big deal nothing new was in it.Tony did some good things in the first. Then there are a lot of good older books.

A Comprehensive Gudie to Hunting Alaska...

A Comprehensive Gudie to Hunting Alaska...

By Chris Batin, should be your first book to read then all the rest fall into place...Chris is an excellent author & his stories are some of the best hunting stories I've read...

I like Hunting Hard In Alaska by Mark Taylor...

Don't overlook periodicals. Each winter I while away some hours going through old magazines. I have a collection dating from the early 40's through the mid 70's of the Alaska Sportsman. All of the older mags have good definitive info in them. There were few secrets back then, and guides were free with their info, after all they were in the business of bringing clients up. Back then, there were no "SHOWS" to book people. Word of mouth and magazines were the best they could hope for. These same places exist today, little has changed in many of the locations. If you can get some, read em. Lots of real life docu-drama in them.

Larry Bartlett's "Float Hunting Alaska" is a very informative read if you are planning on doing a float hunt...

Larry Bartlett's books, Float Hunting in Alaska and Caribou Hunting are pretty good sources of information. I agree with Hunt Alaska Now and Marc Taylor's books, especially the first one. Tony Russ's Sheep hunting book is also great.

I agree with Bill S. one can't go wrong with the information contained in these books. The Larry Bartlett books are great hands on type of materail, even though at times people maybe offended by him, he has great insight and knowledge into hunting Alaska.

Always enjoyed books by Jack O'Connor when I was younger -- I remember several very entertaining and informative books about big game hunting and at least one about sheep hunting. He also had several books focused on shooting -- some of his shot distances seemed unbelievable back then -- may be even today.

I am not aware of any books he has coming out, but a nice Anthologies of his stories he's contributed to periodicals would be on my shelf in my personal libarary, I can gurantee that...other than that, I know he has an online website that he publishes as well as a newsletter...
