I still have 15 days before a moose hunt here on the Lower Yukon & miss the early bow season you can enjoy in SC AK...

Anyone with any luck?

I went out opening day with no luck. I took a moose (spike) in the same area last year right at the beginning of the general season while seeing 8-10 moose per day, but on the 10th this year I only saw a lone cow. There are still tons of tracks in the area, so I'll be giving it another go when time allows...but probably not again during this early bow season due to schedule constraints.

I live right in the middle of 14B and I consider the early archery moose season a wast of time. I don't even enjoy hunting this time of year so I don't even bother going out this time of year. I just wait until the frosty mornings of the general season to have my fun.

Nope

Nope

Went out for 5 days in 14A. Saw several cows (no permit) but not a single bull.
Got into some grouse though, that was fun....

I was out at Point Mekenze and saw 4 bulls but non leagal there was one though that was way too close for me to hang around it. 2 brow tines and would have been 50in on the dot or just under from my eyeball measuring. I had to leave the area after 2 hours of watching him before I did end up shooting it. Wish I could have run up to him w/ a tape just to double check.

I'm impressed that you were able to resist, HuntingAK. I watched a 2 brow-tiner last year for about 20 minutes, and he wasn't even close to 50 (maybe 42"?). I was just trying to make him grow a 3rd brow tine while he was feeding. I can't imagine my frustration if I was watching one that really was pushing up against 50. Wise choice, but certainly a tough one. :)

Did anyone see any cows at point Mckenzie? I drew a cow tag. We hunted hard down by the wet crappy power lines did not see anything. Curious if anyone was in this area and seen any cows and would share information. I thought when i drew this permit that it would be a fairly sure thing now i have second thoughts!

see any moose

Last week Point mckenzie we got our cow. We did not see any other moose at all. We saw 4 kill sights. We flew area the week before and saw one medium lone bull near the grave markers and one cow. Not that many moose in the point mckenzie area as we have seen in the past. Viktor

I got a fork/3point on the 8th towards Fairbanks. Took me 8 days just to find a bull. I can't explain it, we saw plenty of moose, just not any bulls till the 8th day. Anyway its meat in the freezer.
