Like from tressel to tressel with a one man cat? Looking for logistical info: How long of float from first bridge to last? How tight/difficult? I'm assuming train will drop our camp stuff off at last bridge.
Anyone ever float Indian River?

415 views and no replies. Let me put it another way. If it really hasn't been done, does it not seem like a pretty good idea? Can I get some estimate of float times between bridges and any reasons you think people don't do it? Or maybe some have done it and don't want to let on!

I have never done it. I have seen videos on YouTube of people kayaking it. So that's one place you could look.

Did it years ago, but had to abort when we all wiped out a few bends down, where the water scrubbed us into the rock wall. Was faster and more technical than we gave it credit for. Years later, it's doable but you have to have your stuff together. You're not going to be fishing from the raft!
Kmac, I haven't floated it, but I've waded and fished it's entire length more than once. Each time was late summer during the king spawn. Seemed pretty brushy in places and even small/low in places for floating. Very similar to upper Montana or maybe Willow, classic Susitna trib.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can't find those videos but I'm fairly sure I saw them in the past and thought they had hiked in and were way up river in the kayaks where it was hairy. He water around the bridges doesn't look like it'd be hairy just skinny.

FWIW - I have never floated it, but have a good friend that tried in a 14' otter. Within a short distance from the drop off, they had flipped on a sweeper/strainer and were lucky to have not lost the dog. As others mentioned, it was described as skinnier water, but full of obstacles that required lots of maneuvering.
